PRODUCT REVIEWS

COLOMBIA TOLIMA IBAGUE

First of all, I have to disclose that I am not a coffee connoisseur. So, sorry, all I can compare this with is roasted department store bought coffee beans. So this review is relevant to those who have never tried roasting and grinding their own beans. I can usually only tolerate about 5g of store-bought beans per cup or else the coffee is too bitter. I used a simple Nesco roaster and simply pressed the medium roast button and watched it roast, let it sit a day, then made my coffee. I read that I should be using about 10g/cup, but I didn’t want to make it so much stronger than I’m used to so I used 7.5 g/cup instead (30 g for 4 cups) in a percolator. This freshly roasted Colombia Tolima has very little bitterness to it compared to the store bought beans. I normally can’t stand black coffee. I actually like this coffee black. Remember to thoroughly clean your coffee maker. Rinsing won’t be enough. Residual old coffee will ruin your coffee. I know a lot of this is obvious, but for those on the fence about roasting your own beans, it makes a difference. And you don’t have to break the bank to do it either.
