ORIGIN: Kenya
Coffee from Kenya is often considered some of the finest, and most sought-after coffee in the world. Surprisingly, coffee has only been cultivated here since 1893, despite being a neighbour to Ethiopia. Small scale coffee growers account for about 70% off production in Kenya, and are primarily located in the high plateau regions near Mount Kenya. One could best describe coffee from this country as deep and complex with a bright, bold acidity and wine like undertone.

REGION: Nyeri County
Nyeri County lies in the fertile foothills of the Aberdare Mountain range, and is truly picturesque! The acidic volcanic soil of the region, along with just the perfect balance of sunlight and rainfall make for excellent growing conditions. Temperatures here range between 12C and 25C through out the year.

PRODUCERS: Othaya Farmers Cooperative
Nearly 70% of Kenya’s coffee industry in produced by small scale holders. The Othaya Farmers Cooperative is sourced from 1126 family-owned farms. Each farm is generally about half an acre with roughly 250 coffee trees. The cooperative owns the Ichamama Factory, a wet mill that processes all the coffee. Although there are 2 flowerings each year, the main crop ripens from October to December.

Professional service

When UPS delivered my order to the wrong address, they assured me they would just send out a replacement and deal with UPS separately. Very professional! Luckily, the errant recipient brought our parcel to us, saving GreenCoffee Company the hassle. I will keep working with you guys.

An extremely smooth Kenya

Kenyan beans are sought after for their full flavour and smooth finish. These Nyeri Othaya beans remind me of fine chocolate; that creamy smooth mouthfeel, that lingers for a while, reminding me of Why I roast my own beans. It’s impossible to find this level of creamy goodness in beans roasted months before. A 4 or 5 day rest after roasting hits the sweet spot

Second review to this coffee. I have been roasting and drinking this coffee for two months now and I have been enjoying it as a top tier Kenyan. On my roast and brewing set up I'm getting plenty of black currant notes, juicy blended fruity notes.I have decided on my favorite roast profile to be at around 13% weight loss for this coffee dumping after only 5degf past first crack. Easy predictable beans to roast
